The Growth Borough Partnership represents the four Olympic London Boroughs that surround the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP). These are:
LB Newham
LB Hackney
LB Tower Hamlets
LB Waltham Forest
The Partnership begun in 2008 to focus on a legacy of renewal for what has traditionally been London’s and the UK’s poorest area and a major boost for UK plc. This culminated in the publishing of the Strategic Regeneration Framework, which focused on the concept of Convergence.
In 2018, the GBP was put into hibernation and was re-started again in 2021. Its new focus was now to represent Borough interests on the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) transition programme, which has a number of objectives including the return of planning powers to boroughs.
It is still recognised however that local residents that surround the QEOP haven’t all benefited from its success and now the GBP and LLDC are jointly working on an inclusive economy strategy for the area. We hope to publish this by mid 2023.
This website is being updated to reflect these changes and in the meantime if you have questions regarding the GBP, then please contact mathieu.rogers@hackney.gov.uk
